Plants Mum
when in wisconsin and planting Mum Plants outside do you have to cut them back for the winter?
Hi,
Unless your mums will look ugly, I would leave the stems and such until spring.
I’m in No. IL., Wis. border, and I find that in the spring, the old stems break-off real clean from the ground and you can see new growth starting.
Trying to remove this season’s growth now, may disturb the plants roots and such, causing extra effort for the plant to generate and regenerate while going dormant because of root damage.
